PPI is proud to announce our patent pending injector bore repair kit for BMW engines.

Please make sure to use the drop down menu and select your correct engine or we will ship a N54 kit by default. It is a different repair sleeve for each engine and a N55 kit will not interchange with a N54 kit.

Kits include only the following, correct drill bit, correct tap matched to our sleeve, repair sleeves, drill guide, and an air hose to blow out combustion chamber to ensure no shavings made its way into the cylinder and if so, this will blow them out.

A customer made a nice DIY video which can be found here.

PPI Injector Bore Repair Sleeve Install Guide:

  1. Place Piston at bottom of the bore and drill with drill bit and guide. Put wheel bearing grease (not included) on drill bit. That will catch most metal shavings.
  2. Next move piston to the top of the cylinder and then put grease on tap and tap the hole. Use drill bit guide for this as well and eye ball tap straight. Tap until it gets easy. When it gets easy you are through and can back the tap out.
  3. Spray hole with brake cleaner to get grease off threads.
  4. Hook up air hose we supply with kit to the spark plug hole in that cylinder and blow out cylinder. All shavings will blow out of injector hole. (Wear safety glasses)
  5. Add the ptfe thread sealant (not included) to the first two threads of sleeve and screw it in the injector hole you just tapped. Thread sealant will work up the threads as you screw it on. Again only apply sealant to the first two threads.
  6. Do NOT tighten sleeve at all. Just lightly turn it clockwise until it stops. When it stops. You stop. Do not torque it and tighten it at all. Doing so will crush the top of the sleeve and damage it as well as possibly damage the groves for the screwdriver in the repair sleeve. The top of the sleeve is slightly bigger so it won’t go in to far. But you don’t want to tighten it at all because it will crush the sleeve!
  7. Next install new injector seal (not included) on injector. Use proper compression tool (all 3 compression steps) on new seal. Then immediately put seal in that sleeve you just installed.
  8. Repeat for any other cylinders you need to do.

Items not included you need to buy:

  1. Permatex High-Temperature Thread Sealant Locks and Protects, 6 mL
  2. New injector seals Injector seal tool (found on Amazon cheap)
  3. Parts cleaner spray (local auto parts store)
  4. Ptfe high temp sealant (local auto parts store, see link above)
  5. Wheel bearing grease (local parts store)
  6. Shop air (air compressor is needed for air hose, small harbor freight compressor will do)
  7. Allow 3 complete heat cycles before getting into boost to allow the new seals to seat in.

Disclaimer: this kit is to be used to fix a ovaled or worn out injector bore in the head as a chance to keep from having to replace the engine or cylinder head. This kit involves drilling and tapping the injector bore hole. By installing this kit you do so at your own risk. If you are not comfortable doing this we strongly advise having a shop do this. It is typically 1-2 hours labor time.
